Local housing developer helps in the fight to save lives

Exeter Eagles BMX Club welcomes a new defibrillator thanks to a generous donation from award-winning housing developer, Burrington Estates New Homes.

The volunteer-run BMX club based in Marsh Barton, Exeter holds race events throughout the year with up to 200 riders competing on race days. The club is a hub for the local community, welcoming over 9000 visitors a year.

The donation from Burrington Estates means the club can offer further assistance and peace of mind to the riders and spectators at the club. Heart health is extremely important to the Exeter Eagles with club...

New equipment at Exeter skate park

There’s good news for skate fans with new, temporary equipment installed at Exeter Arena Skate Park.

Work is ongoing but some of the ramps will be available to use this weekend.

Exeter City Council is carrying out the work with Tim Ruck of the Boarding House. When finished the facility will include:

• A flat spine • Wall ride • Grind block • Sub box

Local BMX riders have contributed a flat rail to the park.

Recently the City Council was forced to break up the old skate park on the same site after the equipment had become rotten and dangerous....

Exeter Eagles soar to new heights

Exeter Eagles BMX club celebrated the completion of works to develop their track and facilities at a special evening event.

Funding for the new facilities has been provided by the Coastal Recycling Community Fund and has involved improvements to the track and the completion of a new toilet block and development of the club and catering room.

The track is now a centre of excellence with riders coming from all over the South West to compete and practice. The sport has become even more popular since the London Olympics and the Eagles Junior section is booming.

Sidmouth police are aiming to forge positive links with young people by setting up the town’s first Scooter and BMX Jam.

The neighbourhood team has organised the event on Saturday 5 April to provide vital youth activities and engage with young people about personal safety and antisocial behaviour.

The event will take place from 11am to 4pm at The Ham on the eastern end of Sidmouth Esplanade. Scooter manufacturer Maddgear will be bringing their roadshow and portable skate park with five of their pro-team scooter and BMX riders to run demonstrations, tuition and competitions...

Devon County Show starts to take shape

Preparation has started on the build for this year's Devon County Show on 16-18 May. A team of eight contractors are making the showground home for the next month as they build marquees equivalent in size to approximately four football pitches.
