After the huge success of last year’s Summer at the Quayside, Exeter’s historic quayside area will again be home to a jam-packed programme of fun and quirky activities for all the family. Organised by the Exeter Canal and Quay Trust, free events will be taking place over the school summer holidays until Friday 1 September.
Expect theatre, art, workshops, entertainers, music, poetry, Storytelling, games, circus skills and much more, with everyone welcome and no booking required. The events take place under the Transit Shed, right in front of the Exeter Custom House.
The first steps to replace an old bridge on Exeter Quayside that had come to the end of its life have taken place this week.
The wooden Mallison Bridge, which spans the medieval leats on the north bank of the River Exe, has been removed as its timbers had become rotten and unsafe to use.

Business is booming at Exeter's resurgent Quayside with local traders reporting good times at the tills, as more and more events are held at the city attraction.
With only six months of the year gone , the popular location has already hosted 77 events. In 2015, 81 events were held at the Quay and in 2014 the figure was 50, meaning 2016 is set smash previous records.
