Exeter Racecourse will be raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance at its race meeting on Sunday, November 24 and the meeting will kick off in fine style with the first ever Dartmoor Hillies race.

Eight ponies bred on Dartmoor will come dashing down the home straight and racegoers will be able to place their bets, with every penny donated to the charity. Entry is always free to under-18s at Exeter, making it the perfect family day out, with a range of free activities to enjoy including a helicopter simulator.

Patients highly rate cancer services at the RD&E

Patients being treated for cancer at the RD&E highly rate the services they receive, according to results published by a national survey this month.

The annual National Cancer Patient Experience Survey, now in its eighth year, is designed to monitor national progress on cancer care; provide information to drive local improvements and to inform the work of groups supporting cancer patients, including the voluntary sector.

The survey was completed by over 1300 patients at the RD&E who had received a cancer diagnosis and attended the hospital in April, May or June 2018...

Road closures for gas work in Topsham

Gas pipeline and emergency service, Wales & West Utilities is working in the Topsham area this coming weekend (5/6 October).

Following gas pipe upgrade work, which completed in the area earlier this year, the company needs to remove the old pipe from along Clyst Bridge. The work is essential tokeep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area so that people are safe and warm for generations to come.

For safety reasons it has been agreed with Devon County Council that road closures will be in place while the work takes place.

Boxing legend brings tales of his life to Exeter event

Former World Champion Boxer, Ricky Hatton, has announced that he will be coming to Exeter as part of his UK wide tour.

Ricky, whose boxing career spans over 20 years, and who now runs his own successful boxing promotions company, will be coming to Exeter University’s Great Hall on Wednesday, 22 November.

The event is being staged by Exeter City Football Club and is one of a number of sporting dinners the club is planning. The audience will enjoy a two-course meal and be entertained by Ricky, as well as have the opportunity to take part in a Q&A and an auction.

Earlier this year Ian Kingsbury visited Hospiscare in Exeter with a cheque for £1388 as part of the freemasons annual giving to hospices throughout England & Wales, this as it turned out was only the beginning.

In 2018 the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) formed a partnership with Hospice UK, to help target support within the palliative care sector with the aim of helping expand vital support for bereaved families and individuals.
