Local police pay tribute after death of colleague DI Jason Palmer

Devon and Cornwall Police have paid tribute to DI Jason Palmer who was found dead on Saturday 13 July.

Police were called to a property in a village between Holsworthy and Great Torrington in North Devon during the early hours of Saturday morning, after concern was expressed for the welfare of a man.

On arrival officers found a body now formally identified as that of DI Palmer, aged 42.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Exeter Braves will kick-off the 2013/14 Aviva Premiership A League programme with a home encounter against Saracens on Monday 9 September (7.30pm), writes Mark Stevens.

Fall in crime in Devon despite funding concerns

Devon and Cornwall police has shown to have reduced crime despite significant budget cuts. In figures published today, Devon and Cornwall is shown to have reduced the overall level of crime by 6.3%, meaning there are over 5,000 fewer crimes than in the previous year. Although most crime has fallen with a significant reduction in Burglary and Vehicle crime, there has been a small rise in sexual offences and violence without injury. Police have released still and video CCTV images of Katherine Hooper in a bid to appeal for public information surrounding her and her son’s whereabouts in the hours before their death .

Council marks the start of work on Crediton’s new link road

The Chairman of Devon County Council, Cllr Bernard Hughes, and Cabinet Member for economy and growth, Cllr Andrew Leadbetter this afternoon cut the first turf during a ceremony to mark the start of work on the new Crediton Link Road.

The 760 metre single carriageway will provide a new direct route to the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate from the Wellparks roundabout on the A377.
