Exeter Neon Night Run is back!

On 28 May over 1,000 runners will be taking to the city streets and glowing for their local hospice charity.

The 5k sponsored run starts and finishes at the University of Exeter, with runners being entertained by music as they head towards the city centre. Hospiscare’s events fundraiser Celia Wilkinson said: “The run sold out very quickly last year and we’re expecting this year’s event to be just as popular, so don't miss out on your chance to take part.

Exeter ladies prepare double blow for cancer at Race for Life 10k

Hundreds of ladies are preparing to give cancer ‘double trouble’ at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life by taking part in the 10k event at Westpoint Exeter this month.

Race for Life 10k will take place on Sunday, 26 July and over 600 determined ladies have already signed up to show the disease that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.

Event organisers are calling on mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take on the challenge to sign up as soon as possible.

Partnership encourages healthier lifestyle

Two local organisations, City Runs and EDP Drug & Alcohol Services (EDP), have announced an exciting partnership which aims to encourage healthier lifestyle choices.

EDP will become the charity partner for City Run’s upcoming summer races including the Run Exe Summer 5k Series and Exeter 10k on Wednesday 29th July.

City Runs, based in Exeter, are an organisation that is about all things running.

They organise events, share local running news via their website and offer coaching, consultancy, event supplies and more.

Michelmores Run raises more than £25k

Nearly 1,000 people took part in the 16th Michelmores Charity Run on 11 June, raising over £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support – and beating last year's fundraising total.

The fastest male was Owen Walpole who ran the distance in just 16 minutes and 6 seconds − followed in second place by James Denne who finished in 16 minutes and 15 seconds. Third place went to Michelmores' Nathaniel Lane who covered the course in 16 minutes and 55 seconds.

The fastest woman was Cathy Newman with a time of 18 minutes and 32 seconds, followed by Emma Sharples who ran the distance...

There's still time to enter the Michelmores Charity Run, taking place on Thursday 11 June 2015 at 7pm and fundraising in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Starting the race is ultra-marathon runner Kevin Carr, from Woolacombe, who circumnavigated the globe running 16,300 miles in a record breaking 621 days.

Setting off from Devon in July 2013, Kevin is also the first person to run around the world solo and unsupported, traversing deserts, high-altitude mountain passes and arctic climes – taking in five continents.

Exeter law firm Michelmores is calling for runners to get involved in its annual charity run, taking place on Thursday 11 June 2015 at 7pm and fundraising in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now in its 16th year, the Michelmores Charity Run attracts over 1,000 runners, covering a 5km city course starting in the heart of Exeter at the Cathedral Green and finishing at Exeter Castle.

From experienced runners to fun runners in fancy dress, all are welcome. Last year, first place went to Gwylym Gibson, who covered the course in 16 minutes 2 seconds.

Exeter Race for Life gets Pretty Muddy

Exeter women are being urged to fight dirty when it comes to conquering cancer - by signing up now for an exciting new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

The city has been chosen to host one of just two Race for Life Pretty Muddy events taking place in the South West this summer.

Pretty Muddy is a women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course – with added mud. It will take place for the first time in Exeter at Westpoint Arena on Saturday, July 25.

Run Exe Summer 5k Series

Ironbridge Runner Events are delighted that Mizuno will be supporting the 2013 Run Exe Summer 5k Series. This series of races will start on Tuesday 14 May, with one race a month through to September.

Runners need to participate in four out of the five events to be eligible for a prize. The flat, traffic free, two lap route around the flood relief channel and Exwick Playing Fields is suitable for all abilities of runners from seasoned club runners to those who have only just started to run.
