Renewable energy specialist shortlisted for national Solar Power award and South West Green Energy Award

Devon renewable energy specialist SunGift Solar has two major achievements to celebrate today after being selected as a finalist in two separate prestigious ‘Installer of the Year’ awards.

Active Plus has been shortlisted in the national, Military and Civilian Health Partnership Awards which are jointly organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Health.

Active Plus, which offers training and skills and confidence building delivered by military veterans, has been shortlisted in the Health Improvement and Promotion category – one of eight awards - which was won last year by an Everton Football Club community outreach scheme.

Devon youngsters get chance to shine

Five community colleges in Devon have been taking part in a special competition aimed at developing their business and entrepreneurial skills.

Devon Community Foundation are set to hold their annual Volunteer of the Year awards in October at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) in Exeter, honouring the hard work and achievements of the hundreds of volunteers contributing to community groups across Devon.

The awards will have an added element of excitement as BBC Radio will be broadcasting the awards live with David Fitzgerald as host for the evening.

The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is in line for a prestigious national award for its work to promote the highest standards of patient safety and care.

The Trust has been shortlisted four separate times for the Patient Safety and Care Awards 2014, led by flagship publications Nursing Times and the Health Service Journal.
