Stagecoach ticket zone extensions

Stagecoach South West has announced extensions to their Exeter ticket zones.

The changes will take effect from Monday 27th October and will result in significant reductions in daily and season ticket travel costs for, amongst others, residents of Cranbrook and Cullompton.

The Exeter Megarider zone is being extended to include the new town of Cranbrook, with the cost of a daily ticket falling from £5.50 to £3.60 and the cost of a weekly ticket reducing from £20 to £14, savings of 35% and 30% respectively.

Young poster competition winner transported back in time

Seven year old Aidan Bown was “transported back in time”, with a ride on a 1966 London Transport Vintage Routemaster, as part of his prize for winning a competition to design a poster. The Woodbury C of E Primary School pupil won the school drawing competition launched earlier this year during Catch the Bus Week, which is co-ordinated by the Greener Journeys sustainable travel campaign and supported by Devon County Council and Stagecoach South West. Work starts on upgrading Devon County Show car parks

A major upgrade to the car parks at the Devon County Show is under way, following the situation at this year’s show, when heavy rain made the car parks unusable, so forcing the cancellation of the third day.

The work is being led and co-ordinated by the Devon County Agricultural Association and supported by the Environment Agency, Devon County Council, South West Highways and Mole Valley Farmers.

Geological surveys, subsoiling, infilling, levelling, harrowing and seeding have been carried out and the ground is already looking much better.

Stagecoach staff swap 4 wheels for 2

Stagecoach South West pledged its support for a team of super fit staff who are cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) to raise money for charity, yesterday (19 August).

The trio - comprised of Jeff Hiscoke, Clive Gillman and Andrew Bradford - left Land’s End on 17 August and are aiming to complete the 1048 miles in just 17 days, arriving in John O’Groats on 2 September. They are using state-of-the-art tracking equipment that will enable supporters, friends and family to monitor their progress, during which they will be covering up to 90 miles in a single day.

MBSS secures deal with Digby Park & Ride

Marsh Barton Security Services (MBSS) has secured a three year security contract with Digby Park and Ride, part of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital transport system to Wonford Hospital.

The three year contract will see MBSS supply security services at the site, which is used by a large number of hospital staff, patients and visitors throughout the week. Stagecoach South West is offering one lucky passenger the chance to win a year's worth of free bus travel by finding a golden ticket hidden underneath a seat on a bus somewhere in Devon.

The competition, running throught the week, celebrates the second annual 'Catch the Bus Week' to promote sustainable travel in county.

New bus route replaces services from Crediton

Stagecoach South West has today announced plans to introduce a new route replacing the 50, 51, 315 and 377 services.

The new route, the 5, will be introduced on Easter Monday and will see the frequency of buses between Exeter and Crediton increase to once every 15mins.

Beyond Crediton there will be an hourly service to Copplestone. Exeter Bus Users Protected by Price Freezes

Regular bus users in Exeter are to be protected by a price freeze later this month as Stagecoach South West raise bus fares by an average of 2.6%.

Under the plans the Exeter Dayrider, Exeter Megarider Plus tickets and the unlimited day travel Explorer tickets as well as most of the region’s megarider tickets will see their prices frozen in an effort to limit the affect of the price on regular bus users.

School Bus Crash leaves Driver in Hospital

A woman suffered serious injuries after a road traffic collision involving a school minibus and a van in Holsworthy yesterday afternoon. (25 March)

None of the 15 Children on the minibus, from Holsworthy Community College, received any serious injuries in the crash.

A statement on the schools' website says "pupils suffered minor injuries and shock and were given first aid in school." but "No pupils have suffered serious injury."

New Daily Coach Links to Exeter Airport

Catching a flight to and from the South West could be about to get easier as the Stagecoach group announce a new daily transport link to Exeter Airport.

The new link, from Stagecoach’s megabusplus services, will see all four of its routes to and from the Honiton rail hub stop at Exeter Airport from this week.

The group say that the new service will provide a ‘seamless link’ between London and the West Country by using a combination of their megabus.com buses as well as the rail links at Honiton.
