Re-branding and re-naming were top of the agenda at the latest South West charity network event to be organised by wealth management company Brewin Dolphin.
Held in Exeter Library and co-hosted by the Step One charity, more than fifty guests gathered to hear Chief Executive Officer Eilis Rainsford talk about why Step One, formerly St Loye’s Foundation, had changed its name and what impact the new look and title has had. This was followed by a lively question and answer session, light refreshments and plenty of opportunity to network.
Local girl Abbie Baker has earned herself a place in the finals of Miss Sensational UK after winning her title Miss Devon Sensational UK, where she will stand alongside girls from all over Great Britain. The grand final is being held on the 2nd December 2017, at the Fairlands Community Centre, Guildford where Abbie Baker will undergo a series of interviews and on stage rounds including fashion wear and evening wear. Miss Sensational UK is set to be an exciting and glamorous event that will also be raising money for MIND, a mental health charity.

Eleven independent plant nurseries selling a wide selection of plants grown in the south west. From old roses and primroses to grasses and shade lovers, there's a plant suitable for any garden situation and the nurseryman willing to provide growing instructions.
The 13 acre gardens developed over the last 40 years by Mary Benger are open until 6pm and refreshments, light lunches and cakes are available in the cafe.
Ottery St Mary coffee shop and children’s play kingdom Tickety-Boo is to support Honeylands Children’s Charity over the coming year.
This is the first charity partnership for the venture, which opened in August 2016.
Front of House Manager, Zoe Blackmore said: “We particularly wanted to find a charity that was both local and relevant to children.
“After some research, we came across Honeylands. It was an apt choice - since deciding to work with the charity, we have discovered connections between some of our customers and the centre.”
