Half-Term Inside Out Film Screening

Following on from our hugely successful sing-a-long Frozen event in 2015, this February local charity Headway Devon are delighted to be hosting a half-term film screening of the Disney hit Inside Out.

Taking place at the XCentre by Exeter Quay on Tuesday 16th February, this fantastic event will be a great way to keep the kids happy without breaking the bank.

With fancy dress welcomed, fun themed activities and plenty of prizes to be won alongside a screening of the film, this event is a must for film fans in your family.

Devon charities changed my life

A working collaboration between local charities, Devon Air Ambulance Trust and St Loye’s Foundation has given Devon resident Paul May a chance at a new life by providing him with an employment opportunity.

57 year old Paul May joined the Army in the 1970’s where he played clarinet in The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals.

Following 11 years of service Paul left the military and gained a job as a security officer with a major supermarket but after ten years of employment he was made redundant.

Early Christmas for Bluebird Care customers

Forty Customers from the award winning homecare agency enjoyed a three course lunch and entertainment at the Broadclyst Victory Hall and raised over £70 for AgeUK.

Bluebird Care Exeter, an award winning home care provider hosted their annual customer Christmas lunch on Monday 21st December 2015. Customers enjoyed a three course meal, prepared and served by the agency’s passionate office team and were entertained whilst they ate by a local choir singing traditional Christmas carols.

Help find homeless cats a home this Christmas

Exeter Axhayes cat protection adoption centre has many cats and kittens all looking for new loving homes. Two of the longer stayers are Maria and Coby.

Coby is a 6 year old Devon Rex. This handsome boy finds himself here after his owner had to move house and sadly couldn’t take him with her. He is friendly and enjoys a lap to sit when he’s in the mood. As you see he’s a stunning Devon Rex, he is looking for a home with someone who has knowledge of the breed so they can meet all of his needs. This may require living as an indoor cat to protect his coat from the elements.

Eilis Rainsford, Chief Executive of St Loye’s Foundation and Community Care Trust, is set to speak at a national conference. Eilis will be speaking at the forthcoming ERSA (Employment Related Services Association) on Tuesday 8 December in London. Hospiscare Christmas Fair and Exeter Cathedral with D&C Police Pipe Band

Devon and Cornwall Police Pipes and Drums will be performing in Exeter City Centre on Saturday 28th November.

The band will be playing for Hospiscare's Christmas Fair and then doing a set outside Exeter Cathedral.

The band will be meeting in Mary Arches car park for a quick tune up and then heading up to The Guildhall where we're playing for Hospiscare first.

The Christmas Fair starts at 10.30am with our first session at 11am. We'll then be playing at various interval with our final performance for Hospiscare at 1pm.

Rx-info donates to local charity to support #GivingTuesday

Exeter-based pharmaceutical software specialist Rx-info is giving back to the community by donating £3,000 to local charity, Rainbow Living.

The donation has been offered in line with #GivingTuesday - a global day of giving on 1st December, and as a significant contribution towards fundraising efforts for Rainbow Living’s third Rainbow House.

Nine brave souls had their heads shaved at the Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary, raising over £2,000 for charity CLIC Sargent.

Michelle Broadhurst, Roger Strike, Ed Winson, Jason Osborne, Andy Broadhurst, Carl Creek, Andy Russell, Mark Oke and Fran Lea all offered up their locks to hairdresser Sandi Scott and her team. The fundraising was supplemented by a raffle and cake sale.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading charity for children and young people with cancer, and is one of the main charity's supported by the Volunteer Inn.
