M&S to only sell "gender neutral" toys

Marks and Spencer has confirmed that their toy ranges will be gender neutral from Spring 2014.

The store announced their decision on twitter yesterday afternoon following criticism over their separate toy ranges for male and female children.

Shoppers accused the store of “casual sexism” for its “Boy’s Stuff” and “Little Miss Arty” ranges.

The criticism started when twitter user Jane Merrick complained over the branding of a Marble Run game she had planned to buy for her daughter was heavily branded as “Boy’s Stuff”.

Park all day for price of a stocking filler!

East Devon District Council has announced a further Christmas parking concession to help town centre businesses in the final few days of the run-up to Christmas.

With effect from Wednesday 18 December and up to Christmas Day, there will be daily repeats of the successful ‘Small Business Saturday’ offer that applied on Saturday 7 December 2013. This means motorists can park all day (from 10am) for a maximum daily charge of just £2.

RSPCA issue christmas warnings to pet owners

The RSPCA are urging the public to consider the dangers that can affect their pets come Christmas time.

One of these dangers, which may surprise the public, is giving your pet scraps from your Christmas dinner.

Owners believe by sharing their Christmas dinner they are giving their beloved animal a ‘treat’, when in fact the ingredients can cause them severe health problems.

100mph storm winds to hit UK on Christmas Day

Forecasters have issued a double warning over two large storm depressions heading towards the UK, the second of which is expected to mean a stormy Christmas for the whole country.

The first depression known as Storm Emily is expected to arrive in Scotland and Northern Ireland late tomorrow night and with winds expected to hit between 80 an 100mph, leading the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning.

The storm is expected to worsen on Thursday but the Met Office has said that persistent rain will quickly clear to be replaced with frequent wintry showers.
