Serious road collision causes tailbacks on A38 at Plymouth

Update: The A38 eastbound was closed at 4.50pm for approximately 30 minutes.

An elderly gentleman is in hospital with what is described as a serious neck injury.

The collision occured just before the Crownhill turnoff, so traffic is now flowing okay around the Manadon roundabout.

Earlier: Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road collision on the A38 at Plymouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 59-year-old man died in a fatal road collision on the A30 at Honiton on Christmas Eve.

At 11.35am officers and emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision between a car and an HGV at Rawridge Hill.

A silver Ford Focus travelling towards Honition had been in collision with a lorry which was heading towards Somerset.

The driver of the Focus, who was from London but was living with family in the local area, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

Police are appealing for wtinesses following a serious two-car collision on the A30 at Clyst Honiton near to Exeter Airport.

The collision took place at around 0025 hours on Saturday 21 October 2012 and involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a silver Seat Altea.

It is believed that the Astra was travelling west on the east-bound carriageway when it collided head-on with the Seat travelling in the opposite direction.

Crash leaves woman with life-threatening injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash that left a 20-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened at approximately 8.25pm on Monday 8th October on the A390 Grenville Road near Lostwithiel.

The vehicle, a green Fiat Punto, lost control on a right hand bend, crossed the carriageway and left the road colliding with a tree.

As a result of this collision the driver of the Fiat Punto, a woman from the Looe area, received serious life threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Falmouth.

The accident happpened at 1125am yesterday on the A394 between Treliever roundabout and Longdowns near Penryn.

A Black Volkswagen Bora travelling towards Treliever was in collision with a Leyland DAF lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The female driver of the VW Bora was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The weather at the time was described as good visibility with low cloud and wet roads, but it was not raining at the time.

Increase in road casualties should be wake up call for politicians

Road safety charity Brake has expressed dismay at an increase in road casualties announced today, and is calling on all political parties to commit to three vital road safety policies, especially to protect pedestrians, cyclists, children and young people. The figures show that deaths and serious injuries on UK roads increased by 4% in the year ending September 2014, with deaths up by 1%.

Police appeal after female cyclist involved in serious injury road traffic collision

Police in Exeter are appealing for information following a serious injury road traffic collision. At approx 5.45am on Wednesday 23 October, a female cyclist was found lying in the road at the junction of Honiton Road, and Lower Hill Barton Road, Exeter. It is believed the cyclist had been riding along the offside pavement travelling towards the city centre. MP unveils memorial to M5 accident victims

A memorial was today unveiled in tribute to the seven people killed in one of Britain's worst motorway accidents.

Families of the dead gathered along with survivors and emergency workers on the anniverary of the crash on the M5 near Taunton.

A memorial of a split tree was officially unveiled in woodland at Hankridge, close to where the accident happened.

Two people are in a serious condition in hospital, one critical, following an incident which closed the A30 in both directions early on Sunday morning. The road was blocked for twelve hours between the M5 at Junction 29, Exeter, and Daisy Mount Cross from around half past midnight.
