People across Devon and Cornwall are being asked to share their experiences of using the police non-emergency number 101.
Based on feedback he receives during engagement events Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has today launched a major public consultation as part of his office’s review into the 101 service.
The review will be led by Dr Karen Vincent, the OPCC’s Performance and Customer Service Manager, in collaboration with the Force and will assess how well the service is meeting the needs of callers and to identify and deliver any required changes.

As part of National Rogue Trader Week (7 – 11 April 2014), Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Officers have been focusing on the scourge of doorstep crime through education, engagement and enforcement in partnership with Police forces.
The vulnerable and elderly nature of targeted consumers, the high levels of financial loss, and the health issues that victims suffer also creates increased demands on local care and support services, particularly when victims are targeted repeatedly by organised criminal gangs whose tactics are constantly being changed and adapted.

The following is a blog piece written by Police and Crime Comissioner Tony Hogg.
People will know that I have had some wide and contrasting experiences in life. Thirty years in the Royal Navy took me into many unpleasant situations, and, in the years that followed, I worked with many disadvantaged and disabled youngsters through a Cornish charity.
Since being elected as Police and Crime Commissioner I have joined police and officers and staff at the ‘sharp end’ on numerous occasions, and my latest foray onto the streets has had a profound effect on me.
Devon and Cornwall’s Police and Crime Commissioner is calling on supermarkets and retailers to join the fight to reduce alcohol related crime and misuse. It is one of the major priorities in Tony Hogg’s Police and Crime Plan. Alcohol related crime and anti-social behaviour costs around £366m / year across the force area. It affects individuals, families and communities and places a huge financial burden on policing and health services. Mr Hogg has written to major supermarkets and retailers, along with some smaller outlets, asking them to play a part in reducing the problem. He has...
