Solar Art startup inspires a more sustainable Exeter

A new business called Art and Energy is starting up in Exeter to help put the city at the forefront of new and exciting ideas for solar energy based art works. Renewable energy sites that are also art works could be developed over the next few years that really tell a different and relevant story across the city.

Art and Energy is being led by Exeter Pioneer, Chloe Uden. She sees and understands the potential for new pieces of solar photovoltaic art that will make electricity, and, at the same time, be beautiful or interesting installations with a story.

Vulnerable can recieve help to save on energy bills

Vulnerable and fuel poor residents across Devon are being encouraged to apply for expert help to help them keep warm and reduce their energy bills by up to £300 a year.

In 2015 Exeter Phoenix made history by opening Studio 74, the first solar-powered cinema in the South West.

New Help to Heat scheme for Teignbridge residents

Teignbridge District Council is helping residents improve the warmth and comfort of their homes with a new Help to Heat scheme.

Funded through the Government’s Energy Company Obligation scheme by energy suppliers, the scheme sees Teignbridge working in partnership with a number of companies to help private homeowners, tenants and landlords living in the district.

Exeter Community Energy has launched its Healthy Homes for Wellbeing project this autumn, an initiative to assist local people living in cold, damp unhealthy homes who are experiencing fuel poverty and poor health to make their homes warmer and healthier.

ECOE energy advisors will visit people in their homes and conduct a free energy assessment to provide energy advice that helps them to better heat their homes.

Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) has launched their exciting Community Fund for 2017, which is designed to fund local projects that promote energy-savings and/or help to alleviate fuel poverty within the local community.

Local seafood company goes green to improve land and marine environments

The Blue Sea Food Company, a Paignton based sustainable crab fishing company, are on a mission to go green and, thanks to an installation by renewable energy company Beco Energy, have considerably reduced their carbon emissions.

The new system has increased total power generation from 75.64kW to a fantastic 269.61kW, saving 117 metric tons of carbon emissions every year, meaning less impact on both land and marine environments in the local area.

Local renewables company, Beco, have recently been commended for their work at the Energy Efficiency and Healthy Homes Awards 2017.
