Mayor of Exeter helps lay the foundations for city’s newest retirement community

Donning a hard hat, the Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Kevin Mitchell, recently took part in a special ceremony to mark construction work starting on the city’s newest retirement community, coming soon to Topsham Way, Exeter.

The Retirement Living development by McCarthy Stone has been designed to help to meet the needs of local retirees looking to ‘right-size’ by moving into specialist housing , in turn freeing up much-needed housing stock in the area for first-time buyers and families.

West Exe School , part of the Ted Wragg Trust , welcomed Steve Race MP for a visit to see the school in action on Friday the 4th of October.

City businesses to vote on Exeter's future

InExeter, the city’s Business Improvement District (BID), has unveiled its 2025-2030 Business Plan ahead of the upcoming BID Ballot in November.

This crucial vote, held every five years as required by BID regulations, will give businesses the opportunity to vote on securing investment for services that benefit the commercial district and the appeal of the city centre.

A charity that aims to tackle food poverty, loneliness and food waste, has opened its second free community meal in Exeter, and is appealing for volunteers to help.

FoodCycle needs more volunteers to help provide free weekly hot meals for local guests in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, every Thursday at 6.30pm, atBeacon Heath Church.

Andy Short has been appointed as head chef at ISCA, the restaurant at voco Zeal Exeter Science Park .

FASHION photographer Mark Sanders is aiming to put motor neurone disease firmly in the spotlight with a sale of images from 100 of the biggest names in photography including Devon-based photographers Jem Southam, Robert Darch and Brendan Barry.

Libraries Unlimited’s popular The Secret Book Quest is being launched in libraries in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

The Quest, which is available both as a free sticker-booklet and an online programme, has so far helped over 10,000 children across Devon and Torbay with their reading.
