Back in 2014, Exeter Hospiscare staff were very touched when 12 year old Josie Sanders handed them a beautiful poem.
Josie’s poem expressed how she felt about her experience with the local charity after her Granddad Geoff Fletcher, 80, spent his last few days at the city hospice.
Just six weeks earlier he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
Josie wrote the poem as a way of coping with her grief and to express how overwhelmed her whole family were by the support they received at Hospiscare.
The massive contribution of former Hospiscare Chairman Patrick Beasley was dramatically recognised this week as he won the prestigious Anne Norfolk Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award was given to Patrick in recognition of his outstanding service to the hospice movement both nationally and internationally.

This generous donation helps Hospiscare make Christmas special for local people and their families. It can also serve as an excellent additional treat for an office party or as a clever alternative...
Hospiscare are delighted to announce that two more of the celebrated local charity’s coffee mornings have proven very successful.

Children and parents enjoyed cake and browsing toy stalls and sharing their work with the community. An organist also played and at the end of the day,
Staff and volunteers from Seaton Wetlands hosted a coffee morning in support of Hospiscare and raised more than £180 for the charity.
The event was well attended and included former BBC TV and Radio presenter Judi Spiers who is attending as many coffee mornings as possible during September for the Hospiscare charity, which support patients and the family and friends of those with a life limiting illness.
Seaton Wetlands volunteers baked a range of delicious cakes for the event. From raspberry cream to chocolate torte, there was something for everyone, including gluten free...
Staff, volunteers and patients at the city’s hospice were celebrating after being awarded £2,000 from the E.ON Energy Action Fund towards the cost of replacement lighting throughout the building.
In a bid to improve its energy efficiency, charity Hospiscare has now begun fitting LED lighting in its day care and in-patient units, education facilities and staff offices. Hospiscare expects the new, high efficiency lighting to reduce its electricity use by more than 60%, with resulting savings to the charity of around £5,000 a year. The donation from E.ON covered the cost of improved...
