Police in Exmouth have released an Evofit of man they would like to speak to in connection with a series of burglaries across east, south and mid Devon.

A burglary occurred in the Mount Pleasant Avenue area of Exmouth between the 4 and 17 October while the occupants were on holiday.

Items stolen from the property include a number of earrings, gold rings, a locket, a ladies wristwatch, a gold bangle and a service medal.

Exeter nightclub assault appeal

Detectives investigating a serious assault in an Exeter nightclub have released CCTV images of potential witnesses they would like to speak to.

A fight broke out at the long bar in Club Rococo at around 6.30pm on Saturday 7 June 2014, resulting in several members of staff sustaining injuries.

One male member of staff suffered serious head and facial injuries after being assaulted. He fell to the floor before being kicked in the head and face.

Recorded crime in Devon and Cornwall has fallen by almost 4% over the last year according to statistics published today (16 October). Overall crime for the 12 months to September 2014 fell by 3.9%, a drop of 3,336 crimes, compared to the same period in 2012/13. Victim-based crime, a key performance measure for the Police and Crime Commissioner, is down by 5.3% or 3,297 offences. The Force has seen significant reductions in domestic burglary (10.1% or 331 crimes) and vehicle offences (15.6% or 940 crimes). Beware of unscrupulous door to door salesmen

Residents are being warned by police regarding unscrupulous salesmen. Police have received a number of calls relating to door to door salesmen operating in Mid Devon and East Cornwall. The people involved often wear home-made ID badges and purport to be part of a scheme aimed at helping ex–offenders.

When challenged they are unable to provide any verifiable evidence that a scheme exists. Essentially they go from door to door, often targeting elderly residents and state that they are ex prisoners having been reformed.

Motorway chase leads to arrests

Police arrested two men following a pursuit on the M5 on Wednesday night. At around 11.45pm on Wednesday (15 October) traffic officers attempted to routinely stop a Ford Fiesta motor vehicle which was travelling into Devon on the M5. The vehicle failed to stop and continued at speed southbound along the M5.

Officers, supported by the force helicopter, pursued the vehicle and boxing tactics were used in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and rammed police vehicles in an attempt to escape. During the pursuit items were thrown from the vehicle.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public’s help to identify two men they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger’s property from a train.

Police appeal following spate of burglaries

Police in Mid Devon are appealing for information following a number of house burglaries which may be connected. The first occurred sometime between Tuesday 30 September and Thursday 2 October at a property in Bramford Speke.

A garage at the property was entered and a ‘Karakoram’ mountain bike valued at £900 was stolen. Sometime on Tuesday 8 October a property at Three Horse Shoes, Cowley near Exeter was entered via an insecure front door whilst the occupant was in the rear garden.
