PCC publishes Crime Plan quarterly update

Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has today published the first quarterly update of work being carried out to deliver against his Police and Crime Plan.

Some highlights of the report are:

People across Devon and Cornwall are being asked to share their experiences of using the police non-emergency number 101.

Based on feedback he receives during engagement events Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has today launched a major public consultation as part of his office’s review into the 101 service.

The review will be led by Dr Karen Vincent, the OPCC’s Performance and Customer Service Manager, in collaboration with the Force and will assess how well the service is meeting the needs of callers and to identify and deliver any required changes.

Gwent Police are appealing for information to identify a woman (pictured) who walked into the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 7 August).

She attended the Accident and Emergency Department at the hospital just after midnight although it is not known how she got there. She has no identification documents on her and can't recall any of her personal details.

Michaela Paige Cheesman was reported missing from her home in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, at around 6.30am yesterday (1 August) and there is concern for her safety.

Police hunt for missing Tiverton man

Police are asking for the public’s help to trace a 28-year-old man missing from Tiverton. Officers are concerned for the welfare of Matthew Foot who was last seen at his home in Loxbeare around 5pm on Thursday 3 July. The disappearance is out of character and police are urging anyone who sees him to contact them. He is described as white, of medium to large build with brown hair and stubble. Unexplained death in Newquay

Police were called to Mount Wise, Newquay just after 6.30am today, 1st July 2014, after reports of a woman was unconscious in the street.

An ambulance was called and the woman was taken to Treliske Hospital where sadly she was pronounced deceased.

A cordon has been set up in the area and the scene is being examined by forensic officers.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Campaigners bike in the buff!

Shoppers in Exeter got a lot more than they bargained for on Saturday afternoon when a convoy of naked cyclists pedalled past.

It was all part of the World Naked Bike Ride which aims to highlight greener modes of transport.

On their Facebook page organisers describe the event as "a peaceful, positive and fun protest exposing the need to rediscover non oil dependent modes of transport, and highlight the vulnerability of cyclists as well as meeting new people and having fun decorating our bodies".

The first Naked Bike Ride in Exeter (above) was held in 2011.

Appeal following dangerous driving incident

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Exeter city centre on Tuesday 20 May.

A black Vauxhall Vectra failed to stop for police and was driven dangerously through the city centre at 11.30am.

The car was driven along the pavement on Western Way, nearly knocking over pedestrians, and damaged a number of other vehicles before the three occupants got out of the car in Magdalen Road.

Three men, aged 27, 36 and 39, from Exeter, were arrested nearby.
