Police seek witnesses to serious A30 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious collision between a Honda motorcyle and a Vauxhall Astra on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Honiton on Friday (31 May) afternoon.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a blue car seen in the area at around the time of the collision who may be able to assist the investigation.

The male motorcyclist was treated by paramedics at the scene then airlifted to Derriford Hospital. He remains in a serious condition. The male driver of the Astra was uninjured.

Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital following serious collision near Honiton

Police were called to the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Honiton this afternoon.

Officers were called at 3.30pm after reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was treated by paramedics at the scene and then airlifted to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

The A30 is reported to be closed with queueing traffic westbound between Daisy Mount Cross in Marsh Green and the B3184 junction in Poltimore.

Istanbul: At least 100 injured as police clash with protesters at Gezi Park

Hundreds of people have gathered in the street next to Taksim Gezi Park on Friday, as bulldozers reportedly move into the green space to begin the demolition.

Police have released a new CCTV image showing the last known sighting of Magdalena Krawiec, the missing 20-year-old Polish woman.

The picture shows a woman walking along Marine Drive near the Redcliffe Hotel in Paignton in the direction of Torquay on Monday 13 May at 8.17pm (it was previously reported that the last sighting had been on Tuesday 14 May). The woman in the photo has been confirmed as being Magdalena.

Police are appealing for any information or sightings of Magdalena after 8.17pm on Monday 13 May.

Record number of children safeguarded by CEOP

A record number of children have been safeguarded from sexual abusers in the past year, figures from the UK’s leading child protection agency reveal today. In 2012/2013, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre safeguarded and protected 790 children – an increase of 85 per cent on the previous year, and the highest yearly figure since the Centre launched in 2006. It now brings the total number of protected children to 2,255 in its seven-year history. Fire in Newquay destroys a third of Western Greyhound's bus fleet

Devon & Cornwall Police say that they received a call at 1.17am this morning (3 May 2013) reporting that a number of buses were on fire in the Summercourt area of Cornwall. It is thought that at least 37 buses have been deystroyed by fire, a third of bus firm Western Greyhound's fleet, which will impact on the bus service provided in mid-Cornwall. Police appeal following burglaries in Crediton

Police in Crediton have issued an ‘Evofit’ of a suspect they wish to identify following two house burglaries in the town. The two incidents occurred between 2.00pm and 3.30pm on Monday 29 April in Clifford Gardens, Crediton. In the first incident the offender entered a flat via an insecure door and following a search some cash totalling £15 was stolen from a purse and container. Police warn motorists to watch out for opportunist car criminals

Motorists are being urged not to leave valuables on show in their vehicles when visiting beauty spots in Devon and Cornwall.

The warning comes from police after thieves targeted a vehicle on Dartmoor on Monday 6 May.

Thieves forced the door of the locked Nissan Micra in a car park between Poundsgate and Dartmeet around 6pm and stole a handbag.

Tributes paid to doting father killed in speedboat accident

Tributes have been paid to Nick Milligan, the 51-year-old father killed in a tragic speedboat accident in the Camel Estuary near Padstow on Sunday (5 May).

Mr Milligan and his eight-year-old daughter died after they and four other members of their family were thrown out of the boat into the water. They are believed to have been hit by the vessel as it circled the vicinity.
