Students at West Exe School , part of the Ted Wragg Trust , are taking part in the 15th celebration of Sustrans #BigWalkAndWheel , the UK's largest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge. Sustrans is a UK based walking, wheeling and cycling charity, and the custodian of the National Cycle Network.

Exeter students' business challenge seems them turn £80 into over £300!

Around 60 Year 9 students at West Exe School, part of the Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust , have taken part in an enterprise market at the school this month.

The market is the culmination of the £5 enterprise challenge, those taking part conducted market research, visited the market at Exeter Cathedral, then got to work on planning, pitching and promoting how they were going to use their £5 budget to create something to sell to other students. Some intrepid students even sought wider investment to help boost their chances of success.

School Recycling Workshops Continue to Thrive

More than 500 pupils across East Devon have taken part in workshops about the importance of recycling, thanks to an initiative by East Devon District Council (EDDC) and their waste contractor Suez.

Led by Suez’s Recycling Officer, Jess Prosser, the school children have enjoyed games and presentations highlighting the waste hierarchy and the value in reusing and recycling material.

During the past year Jess has spoken to 525 primary school pupils who have enjoyed a series of activities to sort materials and learn how and where they can reuse material.

Banksy Champions Children’s Art Classes Launching in the Exeter Area

Globally renowned Graffiti artist Banksy said he was ‘blown away’ by art work produced by pupils at a Brighton art school that has recently launched in Lympstone and Exmouth. Bansky, who’s recent murals feature on Ukrainian postage stamps, went on to say that he was ‘wowed’ by the classes and that all the pupils were brilliant and had a bright future in art ahead of them.

IKEA UK has launched a competition giving Exeter school children the chance to win £2,000 towards projects which will help reduce their school’s carbon footprint.

The retailer is working in partnership with the Let's Go Zero campaign, coordinated by climate solutions charity Ashden, which calls on all UK schools to become carbon zero by 2030.

Enrique Ruiz Cano is an English language teaching specialist who currently works for a state Primary school in Spain (CEIP Nuestra Senora de la Fuensanta from Beniajan in the Murcia region of south eastern Spain). DCW Polymers transforms beach clean litter into recycled plastic bench for Kenn C of E Primary School

Year five and six pupils from Kenn C of E Primary School collected over several bags of litter during a beach clean which will now be transformed into a recycled plastic bench for their playground.

Independent commercial waste management firm DCW partnered with Keep Britain Tidy’s Ocean Recovery Project, supported by South West Water, to organise the beach clean in Exmouth. UK schools strive for EU links

The number of UK schools with international links has gone downhill since Brexit kicked in and the UK government’s decision to opt out of the Erasmus+ study scheme.
