Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, headed to its local school, Cranbrook Education Campus yesterday (11th July 2018) with an enthusiastic team to inspire the next generation of recruits with a talk on aviation-related careers. Some 150 students aged 11 to 14 enjoyed getting up close and personal during an interactive talk with some of Flybe’s pilots, cabin crew and engineers who gave interesting insights into how they qualified for their particular role, the training they received, explained their own individual path to joining the airline – and what their day-to-day jobs involved....
A group of Devon villagers are protesting that their village has been turned into a 'giant school car park' and are calling for a national conversation about the school commute.
Broadclyst, near Exeter, has 527 pupils and 88 members of staff at its primary school causing huge pressures on the village.
“Our beautiful, mediaeval village, one of the finest in England, has been turned into a giant school car park, severely reducing the quality of life for villagers and causing significant disruption,” said pressure group founder, Liz Straw.
Children at Broadhembury Church of England Primary School in Honiton welcomed the team from the local Amazon delivery station in Exeter to celebrate a new funding partnership for their Magic Breakfast club. Preparations for one of the South West’s largest exhibitions, the Rathbones Exeter Art Show hosted at the Maynard School, are gaining pace with well over 100 nationally and locally acclaimed artists signed up already.
Commercial interest in the Show, which will take place over the weekend of 21-22 April 2018, has been enormous this year with several companies coming on board to offer support. So far, these include Rathbones Investment Management, Knight Frank, Darts Farm, Foot Anstey and The Exeter.

Ten children from Year 6 at Broadclyst Community Primary School helped to devise and record their own radio advert for the school’s open days at Global Radio HQ in Exeter on 3 November.
The youngsters are currently taking part in the school’s Global Enterprise Challenge, an annual business enterprise initiative that incorporates a wide range of business skills while encompassing many different elements of the school curriculum. The Board of Governors of Blundell’s School, have today 13th November, announced that Mr Bart Wielenga has been appointed as the new Head of this leading co-educational day and boarding school. Mr Wielenga will take up the position with effect from September 2018.
Mr Wielenga will become the thirtieth Head of Blundell’s School and will succeed Mrs Nicola Huggett when she leaves to become Head at Cheltenham College.
