Open day for weddings at Exeter Racecourse in August

Exeter Racecourse’s stunning River Room will be transformed into a wedding breakfast for 40 guests for two weeks during August, enabling brides-to-be to get a taste of what it would be like to have a wedding on Haldon Hill.

The room will be fully laid out with cutlery, crockery and glassware plus chair covers, swags, table decorations and lighting to give the wedding party some ideas for their big day.

The open weeks are in conjunction with Cover Cupboard who have their unit at the racecourse.

Radiance MediSpa hold their first corporate event

Exeter-based Radiance MediSpa run by mother and daughter team Dr Ros Debenham and Katie Debenham hosted its first corporate event since opening in the spring. The title of this month’s event was ‘Visioning your business’. The luxurious venue was utilised by GrowthAccelerator which helps small businesses expand with on-going support for business strategy.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne and enjoyed taster sessions from Radiance MediSpa therapists followed by presentations from Katharine Bourke of GrowthAccelerator and Dr Ros Debenham.

Tiverton Balloon & Music Festival 2013

There will be over 35 musical acts, a comedy stage (on Friday night), Taste of the West food pavilion, Westcountry ales and cider, craft ctalls, vintage aircraft displays, mountain bike stunt teams, archery, falconry, fire and light shows, a planetarium, workshops and of course, Mass Ascents featuring a whole host of colourful Hot Air Balloons including Special Shapes and lots more.

Exeter residents dusting off their 'dancing' trainers for Cancer Research UK

Next Sunday, 30 brave participants from Exeter and beyond, will be dusting off their trainers and perfecting their shimmying at 'The Ultimate Danceathon' for Cancer Research UK. Three local instructors will be joining forces to deliver three hours of dance fitness. Included in the day will be the ever-popular 'Zumba', up-and-coming Bollywood fitness sensation 'Just Jhoom!', and 'Swagga Fit'; a fantastic new workout developed by the local 'Vibes Dance Company'!

'The Ultimate Danceathon' will be taking place at Active Fitness near Topsham, and places are still available for anyone...

Summer craft exhibition: Make a Mark

The Guild’s annual summer exhibition by its Membership features handling pieces, samples, sketches and background material alongside finished craft work. There will be a launch party with music and buffet, 5-7pm on 28 June (£7/£10).

Businesses to hear the benefits of planning at next Exeter Energy Exchange

Businesses will have a chance to find out more about the current planning system and its impact on energy projects at the latest Exeter Energy Exchange, which takes place on 23 May. Award-winning storyteller at Devon Guild this Easter

On 30 March you can hear talented performer Wilf Merttens tell tales about the unusual objects on show in the Devon Guild’s current exhibition,‘Transplantation’. Ide villagers celebrate new Community Shop

Twelve months ago, the villagers of Ide, near Exeter, embarked on the seemingly impossible task of relocating their community shop.

The original shop opened in 2009 on a temporary site within a Portakabin in the village car park. Understandably, the council wanted the car parking spaces back. Eventually, after nearly two years, suitable premises were identified and £175,000 was raised, enabling the premises to be purchased and transformed from an old warehouse into a stylish and spacious new shop and post office.
