The Paignton Championship Dog Show will be returning to Westpoint this summer. The event itself is a qualifying show for Crufts and an ideal opportunity to meet Champion Dogs and dog lovers alike. Paignton Championship Dog Show will exhibit 163 breeds of dog.

Agility will be taking place on all four days and obedience classes will be held on the last show day.

Rainbow Run moves to Westpoint

Following the success of this year’s Children’s Hospice South West’s Exeter Rainbow Run, the charity is delighted to announce that the 2017 run will now take place at the Westpoint Arena!

Jayne Jarrett, events fundraiser at the hospice said: ‘We were overwhelmed with the local support for our 2016 run with nearly 1700 people taking part, and we’re so excited that we will be holding next year’s event at Westpoint Arena.

We’ve lots of plans to make the event even more colourful, and we’re already organising a jam-packed event village to ensure that the day is just as much fun...

Exeter hosts Jehovah’s Witnesses convention

Jehovah’s Witnesses will be hosting their 2016 “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!” conventions in countries around the world.

The public is invited to attend this three-day event free of charge. The theme of this year’s three-day program is “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!” and it will feature 49 presentations, each exploring the theme “loyalty.” Additionally, the Witnesses have prepared 35 video segments specifically for the program plus two short films that will be shown on Saturday and Sunday. An Exeter Daily reader today blamed Westpoint for much of the traffic chaos ahead of Elton John's concery in Exeter last night.

Gary, from Yeovil, said the problems appeared to be due to the parking of vehicles once inside the ground.

In an email, he said: "One marshall told us that 'people had arrived in the wrong cars' suggesting that people were having difficulty parking on the wet grass unless they were in a 4x4.

"When we got near to the parking places it was obvious that there were very few stewards visible and there seemed to be no coordination whatsoever....

Westpoint has issued an apology after some music fans missed out on Elton John's concert in Exeter last night.

Five-mile tailbacks built up going into the showground, leading to chaotic scenes.

Westpoint bosses used twitter to keep those trying to attend informed.

They said a mixture of issues had contributed to the problems including a number of minor accidents.

One tweet said: "We are sorry people are experiencing delays due to traffic jams. The management are fully aware of the situation and are taking on feedback."

Tiverton man crowned Farmer of the Year

Seven outstanding Devon farming businesses are celebrating tonight (Wednesday May 18) after picking up the top prizes in the 2016 Devon Farm Business Awards, organised by a partnership of the Devon County Agricultural Association, the Addington Fund and Stephens Scown.
